Excavators, wheel loaders, crawler excavators, bulldozers, backhoe loaders, etc. are special vehicles that perform heavy jobs with certain features. Operators must be properly trained and educated to the use of all the components of the machine, especially the engine, transmission, hydraulic system,electrical system, etc., and follow the safety standards defined by the legislation and by the company.
The employer is responsible for providing appropriate training for the works to be performed and all the relative safety devices related, which we showed in the following image.
The hydraulic system of a machine determines how much weight it can load and at what speed it can operate. Therefore, it represents one of the fundamental elements for the correct functioning of a wheel loader or an excavator.

Operators must obtain the maximum possible performance of the machines to use them in the best way and avoid wastage of fuel.
This objective can only be achieved through the implementation of a failure maintenance and prevention strategy. The checking must be carried out daily and, in the specific case of the hydraulic system, must mainly be focused on the hydraulic oil level. The filters and oil must be changed in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
Fuel is one of the basic elements of earth-moving machines. Saving fuel should be one of the main objectives of any operator, both for economic reasons but, above all, for environmental reasons.
The public works and the exploitation of quarries and mines, today, as ever, must be “sustainable”, which means that a balance is needed between the satisfaction of current needs and the well-being of future generations without compromising it.
